January
January 4, 2023- Welcomed new and returning colleagues to the 193rd Session of the Massachusetts General Court as Dean of the House. Thank you to the Allston-Brighton and Brookline communities for entrusting me with another term as your legislator.
January 5, 2023- Congratulations to Governor Maura Healey - a leader, team player and alum of the Representative Kevin Honan Women’s Basketball League - on her historic swearing-in.
January 11, 2023- Joined climate advocacy organizations throughout Massachusetts to celebrate the passage of landmark climate legislation and discuss priotities for the new session.
January 13, 2023- The City of Boston unveiled the Embrace, a memorial commemorating the lives and love civil rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King.
We carry the Kings’ legacy as a reminder of the profound role they played in the fight for racial equality.
February
February 6, 2023- Attended a legislative briefing with the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MCEC) to review decarbonization and clean energy initiatives in Massachusetts, a nationwide leader in the renewable energy sector.
February 7, 2023- Joined my colleagues in wearing red to support women in my family and across the country living with heart issues and raise awareness during Heart Month.
February 8, 2023- Massachusetts Association for Community Action (MASSCAP) delivered a policy briefing to strengthen our local community organizations fighting poverty and supporting our most vulnerable residents.
February 8, 2023- YMCA Advocacy Day organized by the Alliance of Massachusetts YMCAs in the State House with YMCA Oak Square Executive Director Tom Myers and staff to discuss our shared commitment to protect community health programs and empower youth and families.

February 14, 2023- Attended a presentation by the Massachusetts Head Start Association to cement a strong partnership with the legislature supporting Head Start programs and early child education.
February 15, 2023- The Boston Delegation toured the USS Constitution.
February 16, 2023- The American Red Cross Showcase in Nurses Hall at the State House highlighted the work of the American Red Cross Massachusetts Chapter, from lifesaving blood donations, CPR training and caring for displaced families and our military.
March
March 7, 2023- Zero Carbon Renovation Fund Coalition delivered a presentation on the ways in which equitable building decarbonization will reduce emissions, improve climate resiliency and promote climate justice.
March 8, 2023- Attended the ABCD Legislative Breakfast outlining strategies to move families from poverty to stability and success.
March 15, 2023- After over 8 years navigating the State House halls with ADA Coordinator Carl Richardson, Merrick the guide dog retired and a packed 21st Amendment crowd wished him well.
March 19, 2023- Lively morning at the St. Patrick's Day Breakfast hosted by State Senator Nick Collins in the Ironworkers Local 7 Hall. Great to meet County Cavan Councilor John Paul Feeley.
March 21, 2023- Students, parents and teachers came to the State House to share their stories on METCO Advocacy Day. This program empowers students with greater access to educational opportunities while diversifying school districts.
March 21, 2023- On LEAD Day sponsored by the National Association of Social Workers- MA Chapter, students advocated for economic justice and equity legislation.
Talked with social work students today from Boston College School of Social Work as a co-sponsor of bills to reform social work licensure, provide universal school meals and support lower-income families.
March 28, 2023- The Massachusetts Clean Energy Caucus hosted Climate Chief Melissa Hoffer to discuss Governor Healey’s significant climate agenda.
March 29, 2023- Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition welcomed advocacy groups from across the Commonwealth for Immigrants’ Day at the State House.

April 25, 2023- Service dogs Loring and Verna stopped by our busy budget session to say hello. NEADS Dogs trains service dogs providing assistance to people throughout the Commonwealth.
April 26, 2023- On Denim Day, my colleagues and I wore denim to support sexual assault survivors.
April 26, 2023- The House passed their FY24 budget. Thank you Speaker Mariano and Chair Michlewitz for advancing critical investments in housing, education, environment and more areas that reinforce our economy and address the needs of residents across the Commonwealth.
April 28, 2023- Governor Healey hosted South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol for a state luncheon.
Celebrated Greek Independence Day with cultural performances and leaders from the Hellenic community across New England.

May 9, 2023- Attended a briefing by the Massachusetts Legislative Manufacturing Caucus with MassMEP highlighting the high-paying jobs, innovation and excellence of the state’s diverse manufacturing sectors.
May 9, 2023- For over 100 years, MA Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs provides a supportive place for kids and teens to thrive. The West End House in Allston was my backyard growing up- I will continue to be their strong advocate in the Legislature.
May 12, 2023- At the Women’s Lunch Place Boston Luncheon supporting women’s initiatives from healthy nutrition to economic empowerment.
May 12, 2023- Uniting at the Greater Boston Labor Council Spring Breakfast with elected officials and union leaders committed to protecting workers.
May 15, 2023- Betsy Lehman Center for Patient Safety presented the Roadmap to Health Care Safety for Massachusetts, a comprehensive plan that unites stakeholders to reduce preventable patient harm.
May 16, 2023- Project 351 engages almost 5,000 8th graders who impact millions of neighbors in Massachusetts through transformative public service. These extraordinary kids- including a student from Heath Elementary School- were recognized at the State House for their efforts.
May 16, 2023- The Massachusetts Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers delivered a briefing on the SUPER Act. I am happy to co-sponsor this bill which promotes equity and greater accessibility within the social work field.
May 17, 2023- Attended the State's Asian American, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month celebration in the Great Hall.
May 23, 2023- Attorney General Andrea Campbell outlined policies and procedures to reduce housing discrimination and protect tenants’ rights in Massachusetts.
May 24, 2023- Patrick Sheehan MLA came to the State House to recognize shared cultural ties between Ireland and Boston.
May 24, 2023- Celebrated Haitian Heritage Month at the State House.
May 25, 2023- Massachusetts Association of Community Development Corporations came to the State House promoting mission-driven development organizations creating opportunities for all communities in the Commonwealth.

June 8, 2023- Pride flag raising ceremony at the State House for Pride Month with Governor Maura Healey, Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll, Rep. Sarah Peake, LGBTQ+ Legislative Caucus and community across the Commonwealth.
June 12, 2023- The Boston Delegation visited the North Atlantic States Carpenters Carpenters Center in Dorchester - what an extraordinary union training center for apprenticeships and jobs.
June 13, 2023- Governor Healey announced the creation of Massachusetts Community Climate Bank, the nation’s first green bank dedicated to affordable housing which will accelerate affordable, decarbonized housing development across the Commonwealth.
June 13, 2023- Received a health center tour and legislative briefing from Planned Parenthood to renew our commitment to reproductive freedom and health care access.
June 20, 2023- The Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers briefing at the State House discussing the demand for pandemic deferred care and reimbursement inequity.
June 20, 2023- The Massachusetts Clean Energy Caucus hosted members of the Solar Energy Business Association of New England to discuss the growth of solar energy and how the Commonwealth can hit its 2030 carbon reduction goals.
June 21, 2023- The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network delivered a presentation on the importance of biomarker testing that can lead to more accurate diagnoses and life-saving treatment.
June 21, 2023- Talked with Madison Park Technical Vocational High School Principal Dr. Sidney Brown at their school redesign public meeting about my bill H3571 which implements a pilot CDL training program. Madison Park is one of Boston’s best educational resources offering over 20 vocational career programs.
June 23, 2023- The Boston Legislative Delegation toured Spaulding Rehab in Charlestown and sat down for a round table discussion on patient care and rehabilitation.
June 23, 2023- Congratulations to Boston Green Academy teacher and physical and wellness coach Shantell Jeter on being named a Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women Commonwealth Heroine for her extraordinary contributions to the Allston-Brighton community and the Commonwealth.

July 18, 2023- The Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Massachusetts presented the results of the landmark joint study by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Center for Real Estate and Wentworth Institute of Technology that analyzed the intersection of the housing and climate crises on building costs and housing affordability.
July 31, 2023- The House passed a final FY24 budget with historic investments in education, housing and transportation that will keep our Commonwealth competitive and address communities’ biggest needs.
